Sarah Klimsch (b. 1985, Freiburg, Germany) lives and works in Porto, Portugal. She holds a BA in Painting and an MA in Contemporary Artistic Practices from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto.
Sarah Klimsch combines her artistic practice with teaching, digital restoration and associativism: co-founder and co-managing director, since 2009, of Klimsch GbR, a digital restoration company; member of the Rua do Sol collective, from 2012 to 2015; member, since 2015, and vice-president, since 2019, of Praça da Alegria Futebol Clube, a cultural and sports association; co-founder and member, since 2016, of Tias do Bonfim, a children's educational project.
In her artistic work, she has emphasised the use of natural elements, which become characters in a new habitat, creating a landscape that invites new narratives. The challenge lies in recreating a communal stability between the different organisms, seeking harmony between the parts, doing so in a way that simulates an organicity present in nature, but where human intervention is always evident, even if dissimulated.
