Gabriela Albergaria (b.1965, Vale de Cambra, Portugal) lives and works between Lisbon and Brussels.
Studied at the Fine Arts University of Porto, in Portugal.
Integrated several programs of artist residencies such as: Kunstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin (2000/2001); Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris (2004/05/06 ); Villa Arson, Centre National d' Art Contemporain, Nice, France (2008); Museum of Modern Art of Bahia, São Salvador da Bahia, Brazil (2008), the University of Oxford Botanic Garden in collaboration with The Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford, UK ( 2009/2010); Winter Workshop, the Wave Hill Public Garden and Cultural Center, New York (2012); Residency Unlimited, New York (2015).
Exhibits regularly since 1999.
She has used photography, drawing, installation and sculpture in developing a line of works that takes the relation of man and nature as a starting point. Social and collective references intercross with personal and subjective memoirs of her experiences.
Her work is part of various private and public collections.
